An attractive workplace in the Coachhuis

Just a stone's throw from the Market and Vrijthof Square is the former mansion of local legend and industrialist Petrus Regout. Today it is home to the Coachhuis, which offers consultation and meeting rooms to small businesses. The stylish interiors and historical features guarantee an inspiring working environment.

Many small business owners face the same dilemma: they need an appropriate setting in which to receive their clients, in some cases at the same location every time, and in other cases at different places around the country. The Coachhuis offers them precisely what they require. Occupational psychologist Daniëlle Klerken and social scientist Edmée Verstraelen were looking for a suitable place to see and speak to the clients of their start-up firm. "We looked at potential sites in and around Maastricht. On the advice of the Maastricht Business Team, we decided on the Coachhuis. It's an excellent base for our firm Amplitia, which focuses on individual psychological counselling, career coaching and leadership development, but also on team development and organisational consulting. I fell in love with the Coachhuis immediately; it exudes tranquillity, the rooms are styled to make you feel at home even when it's not your own workplace, and it feels warm and welcoming. An added advantage for us is that we can book the rooms by the hour. That's helping us to keep our start-up costs down. We also have chance encounters in the corridors with other professionals in our field and we’re building a valuable network that way. The icing on the cake for me is the meeting room, where we hold our team sessions. The imposing and attractive surroundings contribute to the overall experience and help to make the meetings a success."

Annemiek Groen, manager of the Coachhuis, agrees. She explains how business owners can make use of the rooms. “First you have to become a member. Membership allows two persons to register under one company name and costs EUR 110 (excluding VAT) annually. Once you're a member, you can book rooms on our website. And because we have more than a hundred other locations around the country, you are by no means limited to Maastricht. You can rent a room for as little as EUR 10 (excluding VAT) an hour, including coffee and tea, a flipchart and internet access. And you only pay for the amount of time that you actually occupy the room.”

"The Coachhuis is an interesting option for any coach, trainer, therapist, mediator or other professional who wants a flexible, attractive and appropriate workplace," says Annemiek. "It's also an ideal place to hold a workshop, for example. Our largest room can accommodate up to 15 people. Another advantage is that it’s easy to network with other business owners here. The Coachhuis serves as a platform in that way, a place where new partnerships emerge spontaneously."
