My name is Marie-Louise. I am married to No and we have a daughter, Monique. Since 1999 I have been a buitengewoon ambtenaar van de burgerlijke stand (babs) for the municipality of Maastricht and I have now performed about 1,200 marriages.
Every marriage starts with a conversation. This is how I will get to know you and learn more about you. It won't just be about the wedding ceremony but also, just as importantly, about whether we click.
A fitting speech
In order to properly prepare for the big day, I’ll have an informal conversation with you a few weeks before the wedding ceremony. It allows me to put together a suitable speech and to take into account the rest of the group. I can write the speech in Dutch, German, English and dialect (not specifically the Maastricht dialect). I struggle a bit more with other languages, but a few sentences in French, Spanish or otherwise 'to break the ice' is absolutely no problem.
Without wanting to exaggerate, I think that my passion is my main motivation for having been able to do this work with great pleasure for 15 years. I enjoy it when the bridal couple and their guests feel comfortable on what is often the most important day in their lives.
