Compensation for clinical waste and incontinence waste

As the gemeente Maastricht (municipality of Maastricht), we are committed to sorting waste in the best possible way. Sorting and recycling waste benefits the environment and allows you to save money on residual waste bags. But not everyone in Maastricht can sort all their waste. Some residents have reduced mobility and can't bring their incontinence waste to a sorting station. Their clinical waste, for example, ends up in the residual waste bag. As a result, some residents are structurally burdened with more residual waste through no fault of their own. The gemeente (municipality) wants to help these residents by providing 20 free residual waste bags and/or a clinical waste bin for home use. This page tells you what requirements you must meet and how you can apply for compensation.

Who is it for?

You are eligible for compensation if you meet the conditions below:

  1. You live indepently in the municipality of Maastricht
  2. You pay waste collection charges
  3. You have clinical waste (for example stoma-, dialysis- or respiration materials) and / or incontinence waste and are unable to take it to the sorting station on your own
  4. You cannot get help from your family, friends or neighbours to dispose of you clinical and or incontinence waste

Type of compensation

The gemeente (municipality) can provide 20 free residual waste bags per year and / or a clinical waste bin once for home use (DiaperChamp). What you get depends on your personal situation
