Underground containers for residual waste

Some high-rise buildings have underground containers for residual household waste. New residents automatically receive a waste disposal pass. Waste separation is good for the environment. It also benefits you personally. Only rubbish that cannot be separated, belongs in the bags and containers for residual waste.

Access with your waste disposal pass

If you move into a flat or high-rise building, you will automatically receive a waste disposal pass. The pass gives you access to the underground residual waste container near your building. You can place ordinary rubbish bags into the container. You do not need to buy the red and white Maastricht residual waste bags.

Charges

You should pay a fixed amount of waste disposal tax, even if you do not use the container. In 2024 the waste disposal charge is fixed at € 328.56. In addition, € 1.10 is charged for each bag you throw into the container. You will receive a bill at regular intervals from the Belastingsamenwerking Gemeenten en Waterschappen (BsGW). Visit www.bsgw.nl for more information.
