Approach

You can provide notification of your move by post, online or at the desk.

Would you like provide notification of your move online? Then you will need DigiD.

Would you like to provide notification of your move at the desk? Then visit the GemeenteLoket.

To inform the council, you will need the following:

  • a valid proof of identity
  • a copy of your purchase or rental contract
  • if you are going to co-habit with someone:

    • written permission from the main resident
    • and a copy of a valid proof of identity for the main resident

Would you like to provide notification of your move by post? Then you can either use the declaration form or send in a letter. Would you prefer to send in a letter? You will need to include the following details in your letter if you are moving within Maastricht:

  • name, initials and date of birth for yourself and all other people moving with you
  • telephone number
  • email address
  • your old and new address
  • country and town
  • how many people will be living at the new address
  • date of move (the date may not be in the past)
  • a copy of your valid proof of identity
  • your signature

Your letter needs to include the following information if you are moving into the area from a different council area:

  • name, initials and date of birth for you and all other people moving with you
  • telephone number
  • email address
  • your old address and council
  • your new address in Maastricht
  • how many people will be living at the new address
  • date of move (the date may not be in the past)
  • a copy of your valid proof of identity
  • your signature

Description

You will need to inform the council of the town where you are moving to. You will also need to notify the council if you are moving within the same council area.

Are you going to be co-habiting? You need written permission if you move in with someone else. You will need to bring this permission along with you when you notify the council of your move.

Providing notification of a move can be done by:

  • you, providing you are 16 years old or above
  • a parent, guardian or carer for minor children
  • co-habiting spouses / registered partners on behalf of each other (only if they are moving together)
  • co-habiting parents and adult children on behalf of each other (only if they are moving together)
  • the trustee for a person who has been put under supervision
  • an adult who has received written authorisation to do so

Contact

Please notify the council in which you are going to live. You can do so 4 weeks before your move at the earliest, but no later than 5 days after your move. 

If you notify the council later than 5 days after moving, the council can impose a fine.

Make an appointment with the council. You can do this with DigiD via the link. You can subsequently look at and change your appointment via Mijn GemeenteLoket. Once you have logged in via DigiD, you will first see a screen with your name and telephone number. You will subsequently see a calendar. You can choose a date for your appointment on this calendar.

You can also make an appointment without DigiD. However, you will not be able to track your appointment, or perhaps change it at a later stage.

You also have the option of visiting without an appointment. You can do so during normal opening hours.
