Heritage Weekend (Open Monumentenweekend): 8 and 9 September 2018
The national theme for 2018's Heritage Weekend is ‘In Europe’. Maastricht will also be focusing on ‘Sustainable Heritage’.
On Saturday 8 September, there will be an exhibition on sustainability and monuments in the Sint Lambertuskerk (Church of Saint Lambert) from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During this exhibition, visitors can talk to specialists and find out more about grants, sustainable mortgages, and innovations in technology.
European Year of Cultural Heritage
The ‘Gouvernement’ (the provincial government building) along the Meuse will open its doors in celebration of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, as part of which the Maastricht Treaty was awarded the ‘European Heritage Label’ this March. Geul & Maas country estate area
The Geul & Maas country estate area will offer the opportunity to go on walks, bicycle rides, and attend events at Villa Kruisdonk and Kasteel Vaeshartelt (Vaeshartelt Castle). Please see www.buitengoedgeulmaas.nl for more information.
Collaboration with Het Parcours
On Sunday 9 September, many monuments will also be the stage for Het Parcours. A ‘green carpet’ will mark the route of Het Parcours, running from Vrijthof square via Boschstraat to 't Bassin marina: www.hetparcours.nl
