Declaration of support
A declaration of support (ondersteuningsverklaring) is a written statement in which residents confirm that they support a political party’s participation in the elections.
When is a declaration of support required?
A declaration of support is required for political parties that wish to take part in the municipal council elections. More information about declarations of support can be found on the Kiesraad website.
How does it work?
Submitting a declaration of support works as follows:
- You will receive the Declaration of Support form from the party you wish to support. This form includes the party’s candidate list. The form used is model H 4. Complete sections 1, 2 and 3 of the form.
- Fill in the declaration of support, but do not sign it yet. You must sign the form at the municipal service desk, in the presence of a municipal officer.
- Between 19 January and 2 February 2026, residents can submit their declaration of support at the municipal service desk (GemeenteLoket). This is possible without an appointment, between 08.30 and 16.30. On Thursdays, the service desk is open until 17.00.
- Bring the completed declaration of support with you, including the full candidate list, and make sure you also have a valid identity document.
- After your details have been checked, you will sign the form at the service desk, in the presence of a municipal officer.
You may sign only 1 declaration of support. A declaration of support cannot be withdrawn.
