Help if you're homeless

The municipality helps people who are homeless in Maastricht. On this page you can find out where to go for information and advice.

Your age

In Maastricht we offer help and advice for people who are homeless. Use the drop-down menus at the bottom of this page to see what support is available for:

  • young people under 18 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • young people aged 18 to 27 who are homeless or about to lose their home
  • adults aged 28 or over who are homeless or about to lose their home.

Families who have suddenly become homeless

If your family has suddenly become homeless, you can call the urgent care team (Team Acute Zorg) team: (043) 23 22 044 – available Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00.

What is homelessness?

You are homeless if you do not have a fixed place to live or stay. This means you do not have an address where you can live or stay, you are not registered at an address in the population register, or you use night shelter facilities in Maastricht.

You may also be homeless if you move from one temporary place to another. You might be registered at the address of a family member or friend where you stay most often and keep your belongings, usually just clothing. You may also use 24-hour shelter in Maastricht.

Help and accomodation

If you are homeless, you can receive support and accommodation through services for homeless people. There are different types of accommodation, and one organisation often provides several forms of support.

Income

You can apply for benefits via the correspondence address desk for homeless people: Loket Briefadressen Daklozen.

If you have the following documents, please bring them with you:

  • valid proof of identity
  • statements of your current and savings accounts for the past three months
  • proof of your income

To apply for benefits, you need a residential address or a correspondence address.

Applying for a correspondence address

If you do not have a residential address, you can apply for a correspondence address (postal address). This is a temporary solution that allows you to receive benefits and use social services such as health insurance and tax allowances.

You can apply at the correspondence address desk for homeless people:

Loket Briefadressen Daklozen – Gemeente Maastricht
Randwycksingel 22
6229 EE Maastricht

Open Monday, Wednesday, Friday 08:30–13:00.
