MilieuApp

The new MilieuApp shows you when we collect different types of waste in your street. Turn on notifications for reminders about when to put out your waste. The app also includes information about recycling centres, sorting stations and the second-hand shop Kringloop Zuid. A sorting guide tells you what waste goes in which bin or bag. Use your waste disposal pass in the app to enter our recycling centres.

Who it's for

The MilieuApp (waste disposal app) is available for residents of the municipalities of Maastricht, Meerssen and Valkenburg aan de Geul.

Enter your details

  1. Open the MilieuApp.
  2. Enter your postcode and house number to instantly access your waste collection calendar and other features.
  3. Want to use your milieupas (waste disposal pass) in the app? Enter your pass number: it's printed on your waste disposal pass. If you still have the old app on your phone, you can find it there.

Please note: the MilieuApp was updated in 2025

The MilieuApp was updated in 2025. You can recognise the new version by its blue-green icon with 3 arrows. If you still have the old app on your phone, you will see either the RD4 logo or the bin bag logo. You can delete the old app as it is no longer being updated. Follow the steps above to install the correct version on your phone. Once you have downloaded the new app and entered your details, you can delete the old one.

Troubleshooting

  • Feel free to visit the Digicafé at Centre Céramique if you need help with the MilieuApp. You’re welcome to drop by on Wednesdays between 10.00 and 12.00.

  • Here’s what to do if the MilieuApp isn’t working properly on your phone.

    • Check if you’re using the latest version of the MilieuApp. Update it in the App Store or Google Play, or reinstall it.
    • Ensure your phone is connected to the internet (Wi-Fi or mobile data).
    • If a firewall on your Wi-Fi is active, it might block certain app functions. Disable Wi-Fi and use mobile data (3G, 4G, or 5G) instead. Note: mobile data use may incur costs.
  • Can’t see your milieupas (waste disposal pass) in the app? Follow these steps.

    • Check if your pass is added. Add it via the pass icon in the top-right corner. Or open the MilieuApp menu and tap More > Personal data > My zip code and card number. The number can be found in on the pass itself or in the old app if you still have it.
    • Ensure the pass number in the app matches the number on your milieupas (waste disposal pass).
  • Can’t view collection days in your waste collection calendar? Here’s what to do.

    • Check if you’re using the latest version of the MilieuApp. Update it in the App Store or Google Play, or reinstall it.
    • Ensure your phone is connected to the internet (Wi-Fi or mobile data).
    • If a firewall on your Wi-Fi is active, it might block certain app functions. Disable Wi-Fi and use mobile data (3G, 4G, or 5G) instead. Note: mobile data use may incur costs.
  • If you're not getting notifications from the app, such as reminders to put out your waste, please check if notifications are enabled. In the MilieuApp menu, tap More > Set collection alerts. Here, you can specify for each type of waste when you’d like to receive notifications.

  • If you’ve moved to a new address in the municipality of Maastricht, Meerssen or Valkenburg aan de Geul, you’ll receive a new milieupas (waste disposal pass) at your new address automatically. Please enter your new pass number and address in the app.

    Your old waste disposal pass will be deactivated. A new pass will be sent to the new resident at your old address.

  • If you no longer have a milieupas (waste disposal pass), you can request a new one via the online form: Milieupas aanvragen | Mijn Afval Maastricht.

  • You can use the MilieuApp without adding your milieupas (waste disposal pass). To access the waste collection calendar, simply enter your postcode and house number. If you also want to use your waste disposal pass in the app, you can add your pass number at any time.

  • If you’re having any other (technical) issues with the app, please let us know via the app. Open the MilieuApp menu and tap More > Support and contact > Contact us.
