Waste disposal pass
Your milieupas (waste disposal pass) gives you access to our recycling centres if you show your valid ID. If you use an underground container for residual waste, you can open it with your waste disposal pass. By registering, you can also use the pass to dispose of nappies and incontinence products for free at most sorting stations. Add your waste disposal pass to the MilieuApp (waste disposal app) for digital use.
Access to the recycling centres
Households
Your milieupas (waste disposal pass) gives you access to the milieuparken (recycling centres) if you show your valid ID. If you have residual waste from the address linked to your pass, you can take it to the recycling centres—this is often free. Someone else can bring the waste for you, but it must come from your address, and they must show their valid ID.
Businesses
Businesses are not allowed to bring waste to the milieuparken (recycling centres). Businesses in Eijsden-Margraten and Gulpen-Wittem that pay cleaning fees are exceptions. These businesses can use the recycling centres in Rijckholt and Margraten.
Disposing of residual waste
If you dispose of residual waste in an underground container near your home instead of using bags, you can open the container with your waste disposal pass. You are charged a fixed amount each time you open the drum. You will receive an annual bill from the BsGW (the Municipal and Water Board Tax Collaboration Scheme).
This is how to use the underground container for residual waste.
- Hold your waste disposal pass in front of the reader.
- Open the drum.
- Place the tied bag into the drum.
- Close the drum.
Good to know: if the drum does not open all the way, you will not be charged. You can take your waste back home or take it to a recycling centre.
Disposing of nappies and incontinence products
You can dispose of nappies and incontinence products for free with your waste disposal pass. You will find a container for nappies and incontinence products at many of our milieuperrons (sorting stations). The container is locked. Your pass gives you access. Make sure to register first via Nappies and incontinence products | Gemeente Maastricht or call 14 043.
Using your waste disposal pass in the app
You can add your waste disposal pass to the MilieuApp (waste disposal app) for digital access. Follow these steps to add the pass.
- Open the app.
- Tap the settings icon in the top-right corner.
- Enter your address and pass number under 'My details'. The number is printed on your waste disposal pass.
If multiple people live at the same address, everyone can add the pass to the app. The homeowner can provide the pass number.
