Free bulky waste collection
Bulky waste is waste that does not fit in a bin bag and is no longer suitable for reuse. Examples include a broken sofa, carpet or large pieces of non-white polystyrene. Bulky waste is ultimately incinerated. You can take your bulky household waste to a recycling centre yourself or arrange for the municipality to collect it. Residents with a low income and/or who are eligible for support under the Social Support Act (Wmo) can have their waste collected completely free of charge once per calendar year. Free collection for residents on a low income or with a Wmo assessment
Do you live in Maastricht and have a low income and/or have you been assessed as eligible for support under the Social Support Act (Wmo)? We want to make it easier for you to dispose of bulky waste. We are therefore running a trial.
From 1 July 2026 up to and including 30 June 2027, we will collect up to 2 m³ of bulky waste from your home completely free of charge once per calendar year. Check the full conditions below.
How to apply
- Click the ‘Have my bulky waste collected for free’ button at the top right of this page.
- Log in using DigiD.
- Enter the number on your waste disposal pass.
- Tell us which bulky items you would like us to collect from your home.
- Enter your telephone number.
- We will call you within 10 working days to arrange a collection.
We will try to collect your bulky waste as soon as possible. It may take longer during busy periods.

Conditions
During the trial period from 1 July 2026 up to and including 30 June 2027, you can have your bulky waste collected free of charge if you meet all the following conditions:
- You live in the municipality of Maastricht.
- You have a low income and/or have been assessed as eligible for support under the Social Support Act (Wmo). Check the income table at the bottom of this page.
- You have a valid waste disposal pass.
- You must put the bulky waste out by the roadside yourself or arrange for someone else to do this for you.
- You must be at home when we collect the waste, as you will need to sign for the collection.
- You can have up to 2 m³ of bulky waste collected completely free of charge once per calendar year.
- To have more waste collected or arrange more than one collection per calendar year, you will have to pay collection and processing charges. You can find the rates in the ‘Bulky waste collection charges’ drop-down section.
What if you don't meet the conditions?
You can still arrange for us to collect your bulky waste if you do not meet the conditions above. You will, however, have to pay collection and processing charges.

What is the maximum monthly net income?
Your income must not be higher than the amounts shown below.
All amounts exclude holiday allowance.
We do not include benefits such as housing benefit, healthcare benefit or the child-related budget when calculating your income.

Do you have more waste or need an additional collection?
To dispose of more than 2 m³ of bulky waste or arrange more than one collection per calendar year, you can:
- take your bulky waste to a recycling centre yourself. Check the rates and conditions for each type of waste
